Plan Your Stay
Bald Head Island is accessible only by boat and travel on the Island is exclusively via golf cart, bicycle or your own two feet. While this makes BHI special, it also makes for a unique packing and travel experience. Let us help you every step of the way to make your trip as smooth as possible.
Travel Tip #1: Book Your Accommodations
From oceanfront panoramas to expansive marsh vistas to views of our top-rated golf course, Wendy Wilmot Properties can arrange the perfect vacation rental for your needs and wants. We'll help you leave behind the mundane and immerse yourself in a well-deserved escape.
Travel Tip #2: Get Your Ferry Tickets In Advance
The Passenger ferry has a new schedule from Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC, to Bald Head Island. (Seasonal variations may occur.) Space is limited during peak seasons, so be sure you get your tickets ahead of time.

Travel Tip #3: Make a Tram Reservation
Transportation for you and your luggage from the ferry to your rental (and back again on departure day) is included with your general ferry ticket. It is highly recommended that you make a reservation ahead of time, as space is limited. You can reserve your tram through the app when reserviving your ferry, or by calling 910-457-5003.
Travel Tip #4: Activate Your Club Memberships
Most of our vacation rentals come with the option to purchase guest memberships in the Bald Head Island Club and/or the Shoals Club. Guests should call the clubs directly after booking to secure club memberships. Membership availability is limited, particularly in the summer. Guests must choose to buy guest memberships no less than one week before check in or the clubs may assess an additional fee for last minute memberships.
Travel Tip #5: Make all Activity and Dining Reservations
It is recommended that reservations be made 2-3 weeks in advance for BHI Club golf tee times, BHI Club tennis or pickleball courts, and dining at the Shoals Club or BHI Club. Note that not all homes can offer golf access.
*Membership necessary to play or dine at either club
Travel Tip #6: Packing And Buying Groceries
Once on the Island, you will have access to various dining options and a grocery store called the "Maritime Market." You can also schdule with a local service to have your groceries delivered to your rental home ahead of your check in! If you opt to use one of these delivery services, please let WWP know so Housekeeping can check behind the delivery.
